A Study of Xanthe
A collaborative project exploring what empowerment means in a physical sense. Presented in Diptychs.
Working on this project was wonderful, and a very difference approach for me. I wanted to really push myself to step away from the heavily curated, commercial world so when Xanthe approached me about working on something together I jumped at the chance. We had so many wonderful chats before finally meeting to shoot, talking about what female empowerment means in practice and how our inner fears can hold us back from expressing who we really want to be. This shoot was meant to just be us “being” without thinking about it too much. Through our discussions we built up a mutual trust, that meant our time shooting together was easy and felt natural.
The images are split into pairs, each representing a positive and negative emotion that we pulled from our conversations.
